Welcome to NeuroMinority Reports, a blog dedicated to exploring the experiences, challenges, and perspectives of neuro-minorities—individuals whose cognitive and sensory differences shape their lives in unique ways. In this blog, I delve into the intersections of identity, science, and society. You can find a mosaic of personal narratives, research, cultural commentary, and practical advice, but also stories and poetry, all aimed at fostering understanding, advocacy, and connection.
I am sure the reference to Philip K. Dick's book The Minority Report will not have escaped your notice—perhaps you've seen the movie of the same name starring Tom Cruise?— echoing its themes of challenging dominant systems and assumptions. More broadly, the term “minority report” can be used metaphorically to describe any situation in which a minority group or individual offers an alternative viewpoint or challenges the prevailing opinion or decision. In the context of neurodivergence, it symbolises the urgent need to amplify the voices and perspectives of neuro-minorities in a world that often overlooks their insights, experiences, and needs.
I am Stéphane, and I am neurodivergent myself, autistic, dyslexic, dyscalculic, with ADHD, hyperacusis, as well as four different forms of synaesthesia. You can find out a bit more about me on my website.
Whether you’re a member of the neuro-minority community, an ally, or simply curious to learn more, be welcome in this space for conversations, insights, and stories.
